What Is Google Play Console?

Google's developer portal and policy framework for publishing Android apps, requiring a one-time $25 registration fee.

Play Console is where Android developers upload and manage apps for distribution on the Google Play Store. The one-time $25 registration fee (vs. Apple's recurring $99/year) is the lowest barrier to store publishing. Google Play reviews are usually faster than Apple's (hours instead of days) but new developer accounts face an initial 14-day review on their first app. Play Console also provides analytics, crash reports, monetization tools, and policy dashboards.

Common Questions

Is $25 one-time or annual?
One-time. Play Console is cheaper than Apple Developer Program long-term.
Do I need a business license?
No, individuals can enroll. But merchant accounts require identity verification.
How long does Play Store review take?
Hours for established accounts. First app from a new account takes 7-14 days under Google's new-developer review program.
