What Is RevenueCat?

A subscription-management platform used by most indie mobile developers to handle in-app purchases, renewals, and revenue tracking.

RevenueCat abstracts away the platform-specific complexity of handling in-app purchases on iOS (StoreKit) and Android (Google Play Billing). Developers integrate one SDK; RevenueCat handles receipt validation, subscription lifecycle events, cross-platform entitlement syncing, analytics, and webhook dispatching. Free up to $2.5K MTR (monthly tracked revenue), then takes a ~1% cut. Used by most indie subscription apps as of 2026 because building subscription infrastructure correctly is surprisingly hard.

Common Questions

Is RevenueCat free?
Free under $2.5K monthly tracked revenue. Beyond that, 1% of MTR on the Pro plan.
Can I switch off RevenueCat later?
Yes but painful — you'd have to migrate subscribers to direct StoreKit integration. Most shops don't bother.
Does RevenueCat process payments?
No. Apple/Google process payments and take 15-30%. RevenueCat only handles the coordination layer.
